Where The Tigers Lie

I will swing from love to love.
Hurtling from limb to capable trunk.
I will love them all but I dare not fall
For down below is where the tigers lie.

They wait for the moment when I am alone.
When I am used up. Every last ounce.
Then they will pounce.
Tear me to shreds, turn me to gore.
Until I am no more
Than lonely bones on the jungle floor.

So I keep on jumping.
I never stop.
Through the air I'll fly
I will stay high.
For down below is where the tigers lie.

Lonely hearts are always a feast for (our) lurking beasts. What a wonderful poem! You’ve put into words the predicament of new age love. 🙂
